Troubleshooting
The device's physical buttons, the two reset types, and answers to the most frequent problems.
The device's physical buttons
The device has two buttons: START/STOP and MODE. Besides their normal function, combined they trigger the administrative actions:
| Action | Button(s) | Hold time |
|---|---|---|
| Turn pump on / off | START/STOP | Short press |
| Change mode (Auto/Semi/Manual) | MODE | Short press |
| Allow file update | MODE | ~6 seconds |
| Restart the device | MODE | 3 seconds |
| WiFi Reset (back to factory network) | MODE + START/STOP | 5 seconds |
| Factory Reset (erases everything) | MODE + START/STOP | 10 s + confirmation |
WiFi Reset vs. Factory Reset
- WiFi Reset — erases only the network credentials. The device returns to its factory network (
BombaAgua-XXXX/bomba1234) but keeps your calibration, thresholds and schedules. Use it when you change routers or WiFi passwords. - Factory Reset — erases absolutely everything and leaves the device as it shipped. Use it to sell it, gift it, or link it to another account.
Knowing how long you've been holding
The device signals progressively while you hold both buttons:
| Time | Signal | If you release here… |
|---|---|---|
| 0–3 s | Silence | Nothing happens (grace zone). |
| 3 s | Short beep + slow blink | Nothing yet. |
| 5 s | Medium beep + medium blink | Runs the WiFi Reset. |
| 10 s | Long beep + very fast blink | Enters the confirmation window. |
| 10–15 s | Confirmation window | Release to cancel; keep holding to run the Factory Reset. |
Common problems
The app can't find the device while pairing
- Turn on the phone's Location (GPS) — Android requires it to scan WiFi networks.
- Turn off mobile data temporarily: some phones try to reach the internet over 4G and ignore the device's network.
- Wait for the device to finish booting (a few seconds after power-up).
- Get closer to the device.
- If nothing works, connect manually: WiFi settings →
BombaAgua-…network → passwordbomba1234→ back in the app tap "I'm connected to the device".
I typed my WiFi password wrong during pairing
If the device can't join your network, it returns to its own network by itself. In the app tap "Reconnect to the device (AP)" and repeat the step — double-check the password this time.
"This device is linked to ANOTHER account"
The device was already registered in the cloud by a different account (e.g. bought second-hand). To link it to yours, do a Factory Reset: hold MODE + START/STOP for 10 seconds and confirm (see the table above).
The app says "No connection" on launch
- Device on its private network: check that the phone is on the device's network (the app tries to connect by itself, but some phones jump back to their usual WiFi).
- Device on your WiFi: check the phone is on the same network. If the device's IP changed, use "Search my WiFi network" from the device list.
- Away from home: you need the device linked to the cloud and internet on your phone. If the app offers "Force cloud connection", try it.
- As a last resort, the app offers "Re-pair device".
The device shows "offline" in the cloud
The cloud works but the device isn't reporting. Typical causes: power cut at home, home internet down, or the WiFi password changed. The app shows the last known data meanwhile. If you're at home, join the same network and you'll have normal local control even without internet.
The pump won't start in Auto mode
- Level above the threshold? It only starts when the level drops below your configured threshold.
- Block schedule active? The main screen shows a notice. During a block, automatic starting is paused (manual stays available).
- Cistern out of water? With the cistern sensor enabled, the pump won't start if the source is empty.
- Minimum pause between starts? After stopping, the pump waits out the configured rest before starting again.
- Pending fault? If "⚠ Acknowledge fault" is showing, check the cause and tap it to re-arm.
The level in the app doesn't match reality
- Review the calibration (minimum and maximum distances) under Settings → Pump & sensor.
- Make sure the sensor has a clear line of sight to the water — no cables, cobwebs or obstacles.
- Erratic readings with a long cable: use shielded cable and route it away from high-voltage lines.
I updated the firmware and can't see the device
After updating, the device restarts on its own — it takes a minute or two to come back. If you were on its private network, your phone may have switched networks meanwhile: reconnect and open the app.
